How to Know God

Let’s think about it, how do we make friends? How did we meet our significant other? The one common answer is: by spending time together. It is simply impossible to know God, understand him, obey him, and fall in love with him if we do not make an effort to spend time ALONE with him.

THE BIBLE is the only book that is written at God’s own request. It is therefore the best source for us to know His thoughts.

Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16) -God’s Word Version

God tells the general of the army of Israel, Joshua, to keep his word and to meditate on it for two results:

    1. so that you will obey it in your actions
    2. so that you will be successful by obeying it

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

We Christians have believed in Jesus-Christ as the son of God who accepted to pay the price for our sins and made us children of God (John 1:14). As such, we need to get to know the God that we have chosen. He’s given us His Word, and his Spirit to help us understand his Word. So, we need to Get to know HIM! His directions to Joshua are simple. How can we know how to behave as children of God if we don’t know what his Word says? Moreover, how can we pretend to love him if we don’t obey what he says?

If you live by what I say, you are truly my disciples. (John 8:31, God’s Word Translation)

Many of us Christians are weak, and live in defeat in many areas of our life because we don’t always obey God. He said to Joshua that walking in obedience will create success, not defeat. We need to take the time to read and understand the Word of God. The Spirit of God is in us at all times to teach it to us.

So, here it is, there is only one way to know God and that is by reading his Word every day and thinking about it all the time.

We can start right now!  Here is a great resource from the American Bible Society to help us READ the word every single day this year. A few minutes a day will make a remarkable difference because this Word is ALIVE.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Cor. 3:18, NKJV)

During the month of February, I will continue to post the bible reading scripture daily, so come back often!

Blessings your way!
